President’s message

The IWAS Athletics 2009 starts soon! Located in the heart of Switzerland and in the centre of Europe, the venue at Nottwil awaits you the athletes. We will offer you fair competition and a chance to measure your achievements - surely improved since the last meeting in the USA.

An enthusiastic and dynamic team started a year ago with the preparations for the event in order to create the very best conditions for 2009. The athletics facilities at the Swiss Paraplegics Centre will be perfectly prepared, the long jump pit will be filled with new sand and the time measuring system will be re-calibrated to measure the new records expected.

Additionally, the infrastructure of the Swiss Paraplegics Group in Nottwil offers excellent training possibilities, accommodation and leisure opportunities and is thus the ideal place for IWAS ATHLETICS 09.

Our goal is to make your stay with us in Switzerland unforgettable. We will therefore organise an interesting social programme, which you will not forget for a long time. Bring your camera with you, so that you can share your experience with your loved ones back home.

We look forward to seeing you, seeing the YOUTH of the WORLD, OUR FUTURE! Your achievements, your commitment to life and sport and your results are our motivation and obligation. We are therefore organising these world championships as volunteers. During the period from July 15 to 19, 2009 additional unpaid volunteers will support the event by measuring times and distances or by preparing your food. Today I would like to thank these people in my name - but surely also in yours - for their forthcoming work.

Dear athletes, dear trainers and advisers, dear parents from near and far, the organising committee of the IWAS ATHLETICS 09 junior World Championships looks forward to your registration for these games and welcomes you to Nottwil. We wish you a good and accident-free preparation time, a safe journey in July 2009 and an unforgettable stay in our beautiful Switzerland.
